Rutland Courthouse Competition for Rutland, VT
This was a submission for the new Rutland District & Family Courthouse competition.
The design parallels the geometric simplicity of nineteenth century Vermont courthouses but, with a contemporary twist.
As a civic building, the design had to balance a programmatic duality of tight security and public circulation. Native Vermont materials like slate, marble, maple woodwork and brick were used to connect the front facade to its immediate context.
